This really is not another review of an Apple product. Have you looked on YouTube and Google for the number of reviews already published? It is crazy. Who in their right mind would currently think of creating a YouTube channel dedicated to technology? Firstly, the competition is like no other; secondly, why would you think that people would watch your stuff instead of names like MKBHD and others?
But then again I created a blog using WordPress and I write about stuff that is interesting to me. Whom I am to judge? For that reason, I also have decided to write a short review of my latest tech purchase. Will I write something similar about every new tech that I buy? Probably not, but possibly yes.
Apple AirPods Pro. Why these earphones? The most accurate reply would be because they are from Apple and I have an iPhone. I even have an old MacBook Pro (which you might have already known), but it is not compatible with these new AirPods. I tried to connect them via Bluetooth, but my device could not find any earphones. So much for my intention to watch Netflix horror movies and don’t disturb my lovely woman.
Are they any good? Yes. Of course. I am no audiophile, but the sound quality is exceptional. At least, it is much better than anything I have owned before. They have noise cancellation, which is appreciated when I have to wait for my metro in Brussels. Before with my old Sony headphones I had to push them against my ears to be able to hear something once a metro ran past. But now? I hear that metro is coming, but it is no longer an inconvenience.
They sit comfortably in my ear, they don’t move while I walk. I have not tried them while running or doing sports, but as far as I can tell they should sit solidly. The most unexpected thing was the incoming message readout. Let me explain. On the first day when I got these bad boys I mostly used them at home and my woman was there with me. Monday came and I had to go to work. I am walking and suddenly I hear a voice. At first, I did not understand what it was, since I was listening to music and not to a podcast. Then after a brief period, it appeared once more. I checked my phone and I saw two messages on Whatsapp.
If you have your earphones on and your phone is in your pocket, and if you receive a message on Whatsapp or iMessage, Siri will read it out unless you instruct her otherwise. Now, this is a cool feature. Furthermore, it is interesting to listen when Siri tries to read Latvian using English pronunciation. Pure joy. But, if you listen carefully enough, you do understand if you need to pick up your phone and reply, or you can just keep going and reply once you sit down.
So far there is nothing negative that I could say about these earphones. The battery life is more than enough since my daily commute is roughly 1h30 in total; thus currently I need to charge them more or less once a week. If I’d be able to pair them with my MacBook then it would be a different story.
In conclusion, I definitely recommend this Apple product. If you are in the market for new earphones and you have an iPhone in your pocket, then this is a purchase for you.
My beautiful woman has had her Samsung Buds for more than a year now and she already months ago told me to buy something similar for my iPhone. I should have listened to her sooner.
