Dear American and European movie producers,
May I present to you the perfect place to shoot your next horror film? I suggest it to be a slasher film.
For my readers who are not movie aficionados, Mr. Gold has kindly provided us with a definition:
A slasher movie is a subgenre of horror film that features a killer or a group of killers stalking and killing a group of people, typically teenagers or young adults, in a particularly violent and gory manner. The murders are often committed with knives or other sharp instruments, and the killer is often depicted as being motivated by revenge or some sort of twisted psychology.

I assume when you look at the photos, you start to see it, right?
This place is located in Līgatne, Latvia. Those are sandstone cliffs with artificial cellar caves. I have been to this place, I have walked those woods, I saw that old paper mill, and I went into some of those cold, dark caves. And let me tell you, the horror vibe was indeed there.
Just imagine. A group of teenagers decides on a cold autumn night to have a drink or a smoke next to the paper mill. They drink, chat, smoke, and decide to look around. Some go to the abandoned paper mill, while a horny couple thinks of going up to the caves for a quickie, while others are busy goofing around at the mill. You can probably imagine what happens next. Unfortunately, the first victims are the couple that thinks having sex in a cold, dark cave is thrilling.

Those old houses where workers of the paper mill used to live are ideal places for the killer to live and stalk his prey. On a side note, I spent a night in one of those with my beautiful woman. No killer came, but the overall experience was great. Comfy bed, flatscreen TV, a bath, and an equipped kitchen. Highly recommend it if my horror scenario has not frightened you yet.

Just to remind everyone: “One of the most famous examples of a slasher movie is the “Halloween” franchise, which features the character of Michael Myers, a serial killer who stalks and kills teenagers in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. Other notable examples include the “Friday the 13th,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” and “Scream” series. I mean, you could see it, don’t you? A Michael Myers-type character roaming around there, looking down on unsuspecting victims from one of those cliff tops. And hiding during the day in one of those old houses. The movie is there.
Probably the showdown would happen at the mill. The killer’s dad used to work there, and due to bad management, he was killed in front of his child, who suffered from abuse in school. Shocked by this experience, the kid ran and hid in one of those unreachable caves. While everyone assumed he ran somewhere further, he, unbeknownst to everyone, still lived there, becoming the monster that would one day terrorize unsuspecting visitors.

Or something like that.
However, I must emphasize that this place is truly beautiful. Especially in the autumn when trees start to change colors (and when more people come to visit). Okay, enough. You can learn more about these cellar caves here.
In case any producer is interested, buy me a new Apple MacBook Pro, and I will draft you a script. Why such a particular request? You can read it here. Your call.
Kind regards,
Olaaf
