There are only so many watch-themed articles one can write back to back about the same timepieces. No, I’m not tired of shooting or writing about my beloved watches—quite the opposite, in fact. But every now and then, it’s refreshing to try something different. So instead of capturing the twelfth shot of a movement I’ve already disassembled thirty times, I thought: why not open a good bottle of wine and have a product photography session?
I’ve had wine from Château Martet before—long before I started dipping my toes into photography, and well before the macro lens became a permanent resident of my camera bag. Now, I might just end up having photoshoots for every bottle of wine I plan to enjoy this year.
Don’t worry, I don’t plan to drink much—if that’s your concern. But I do intend to taste the best. How does the saying go? Drink less, but drink the best. That’s exactly what I intend to do. And you, my dear reader, get a front-row seat to see how my photography skills evolve with each tasting. I always shoot before I drink—so rest assured, a steady hand is guaranteed.
Let me know what you think. And if a winery happens to be interested in my photos—or my humble, amateur services—you’re more than welcome to reach out. I’ll be happy to help.
In case you were wondering whether the wine was any good—remember what I said about drinking only the best? Let’s just say this: I’m definitely better at photography than at describing wine. But I can tell you this much—the wine was splendid.
Kindly,
Olaaf
