Our first trip to Paris was this year. In the spring of 2022. It was also my first trip to the city of lights. However, it was not the first time that my beautiful girlfriend was there. We went to France to experience the taste of the French, but we ended up eating Italian. It is not awful but it is a pity. But at least we know that we will definitely come back and explore Paris again.
But eating Italian in Paris was not the only weird experience. I had my technical test for my current job in the hotel room where we were staying. We booked our flight, and our rooms a couple of months in advance, and when we did that I did not know whether I will be invited for an interview or a technical test. So when the offer came I was caught by surprise.
At first, I was worried. Since I did not plan on taking a laptop with me. Thanks to my amazing girlfriend who persuaded me to take hers since I would need to do tasks on both Microsoft Excel and Word, and her PC was much newer and faster than my MacBook, we ended up taking her machine. When arriving at the hotel room we tested the internet – it seemed okay, everything worked, I could even stream 720p youtube videos so I was confident enough that during the test all is going to be fine.
The next morning I woke up. We went for a nice breakfast. Came up and I decided to check whether the internet is still good. It was not! The laptop could not connect to the WIFI network. For an unknown reason. Our phones could connect but this laptop could not. Safe to say that I was in mild panic. Fortunately thanks to quick thinking I was able to share my phone’s internet with the laptops. Everything worked.
The technical test itself went well. I think. Well, it did, since I ended up getting the job. When we embarked on a bus trip to the airport I got an email inviting me to an interview, so the technical test was passed.
With this story, Paris is always going to be special to me. I am truly grateful.
So what we ended up doing in Paris apart from me taking the technical test in a hotel room using a shared internet? The usual. We saw the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Montmartre, bridges on the Seine, a lot of parks, and the Tuileries garden. On this Paris visit, we did not enter a single museum. If I remember it correctly then it was by design. Since on this visit, we wanted to explore, to just wander around and see what Paris is all about.
If by any chance you have read something more on this blog then you’d know food is important. Apart from some unknown Italian dishes we also ate delicious pastries and Pierre Herme’s macaroons. And bread also.
Did we drink champagne in Paris? You bet your pretty little eyes we did. We did not visit a single museum, we did not eat a single French dish, but we could not possibly leave Paris without drinking at least one champagne bottle. And so we did.
So when we will visit Paris again? Who knows. My bet is next year at around the same time we did this year. Or maybe a bit later. But it will happen. Since we currently live just a train ride away from this magical city of lights, it would be incomprehensible not to visit Paris over and over again.
