How to tell that you have the most beautiful, the most amazing, and the absolute best woman by your side? In my case it is relatively easy, she indulges me in my passion for all things watches. I have already written that she bought for my 30th birthday a spectacular Roamer skeleton watch for which I have received countless compliments. She has gifted me many incredible watchbooks that I cherish and hold dear to my heart.
Then there are these watch-themed cufflinks. I have only one shirt, one white shirt that has holes for cufflinks. I wore that shirt and these cufflinks when we went to our first wedding. But why, where, and how these watch-themed cufflinks came to be?
There was a trip to a beautiful city in Latvia called Kuldiga. We went there just for sightseeing and to have a nice dinner at a highly recommended place. I can’t recall what I ate, it was probably a burger since back then I was still big into trying all kinds of various gourmet burgers. We saw a lot of beautiful things, we had, if I am not mistaken, a delicious dinner, we drank coffee and we were on our way to my girlfriend’s mother’s car to go home, when we managed to pass by an interesting shop. There was nothing significant from the outside, just a simple crafts shop. We went in and then we saw.
Small things with watch movements inside. Cufflinks, rings, pendants, and earrings. I tried a ring for my little finger, it looked good, was not heavy and the price was nice. But I did not buy it. I learned that they have an online store as well, so I thought that maybe I could buy it later on via the Internet. I did not end up doing it.
To be honest I can’t remember why my girlfriend bought them. And at this point, I am too ashamed to ask. But one theory is that she wanted us to have something in common. I would have two cufflinks but she two earrings, and then, if the occasion permits, we could have matching accessories.
An event came. We had an opportunity to wear our watch-themed accessories. And we looked good. We looked and we still look very good.
